Modern Aspects of Ancient Acupuncture — Acupuncture Without Needles

by Dr. Maria Kuman

T

his is the best handbook on acupuncture, which is equally good for laymen and professionals. It is the only book that explains in simple terms how acupuncture works - it causes a complex of changes in the body's nervous, blood, and endocrine systems. Thus, acupuncture is not a placebo and it is not a miraculous cure; it has scientific explanation.

Book cover 'Modern Aspects of Ancient Acupuncture'

Traditional acupuncture treats specific points of the skin, called acupuncture points with needles, moxa (thermal treatment), or massage. Modern acupuncture usually does not use needles; the points are treated with: laser, infrared light, electric current, or magnets, which is painless and safe because the skin is not penetrated and there is no danger of transmitting AIDS or hepatitis.

The book specifies the points of the skin, which need to be treated for pain relief or cure. The diseases cured with acupuncture are listed in alphabetical order: allergies, alopecia, epilepsy, diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, muscular dystrophy, neuropathy, obesity, paralysis, strokes, drug and alcohol dependency, and others. The diseases listed in this book are at least two times more than the ones listed in the textbooks of the acupuncture schools in the US.

Ancient acupuncture claims that the treatments add energy (Chi) to the body, but the western doctors don't understand Chi. This book explains for the first time what kind of energy is Chi, which will help the western doctors understand how acupuncture works. Only then will they start referring patients to acupuncturists. But for that to happen, this book needs to be accepted as a textbook in each School of Acupuncture and each western Medical School. For complete understanding of acupuncture, this book need to be taught together with our books What Everybody Needs to Know about Chronic Pain, Chronic Diseases and Cancer and Ancient Wisdom and Western Modern Science about Health and Happiness.
